From 100 club to the greatest honour? | October 8, 2012
On the opening night of the 2012 NFL season not only did we see the defending Champions New York Giants lose their first home opener since 2007, but we witnessed Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware join an illustrious group of men as he became the 29th member of the 100 sack club.
Coming into the 2005 NFL draft (where he was selected 11th overall by the Cowboys, Ware wasn’t even invited for a pre draft visit to the Valley Ranch, but Jerry Jones and the Cowboys Front Office had clearly seen enough of the Troy University star, and it was only a matter of time until he achieved the feat of claiming his 100th sack.
Teams have always found it hard to contain Ware, and because of this he has become one of the most feared Defensive players since he came into the league..
Among his achievements so far, D-Ware has been finished at the top of the sacks list in 2008 and 2010 to go with six consecutive Pro Bowl selections (2006-2011). He is a tough character and although he has had some injuries it hasn’t stopped him playing in all but one of the possible 112 games regular season games that have come and gone.
He has recorded over 40 tackles in NFL every season he has featured in, has had double digit sacks (apart from his rookie year), 27 forced fumbles and double digit numbers for tackles for loss (apart from three seasons).
With him being this dominant, it has lead me to believe that once DeMarcus Ware hangs up his cleats, we will not only see him become the 8th Defensive player in the Cowboys Ring of Honour, but we will seen him giving his acceptance speech on the stage at Canton as he enter the NFL Hall of Fame.
